A little bit of everything...

I am realizing that I have been slacking on the blog updates, so here it goes.  Since our last post we have been working on a little bit of everything.  We have decided that a picture is worth a thousand words, so here are lots of pictures to give you an updated look.  In the past weeks we have been getting more and more excited to show off our house that is really beginning to look and feel like a home.   We especially loved being able to show off he house to Kendra's cousins Emily and Ryder while they were in town!  It was fun to have a whole group of family over to see the progress!

Master Shower.  I had no idea what a project tile work was.  It is hard for me to be patient while rows set before we can put up additional rows.

A closer look at the tile in the master shower.  The large tiles will be on the ceiling and bathroom floor.  The small tiles will be on the floor of the shower.

The hearth tiled and grouted.  This coming Saturday the stack stone will begin.

Main bath being tiled, it has since been finished, grouted, and the toilet put in place....I must have forgotten to take a picture.

It is so nice to have light switches!!!  No more trips to the breaker box to turn the lights on :)

These bushes are still not my favorite, but I think the rocks help to spruce them up a little.

The field just beyond our property line.  If you look really closely you can see 3 bucks hiding in the field.

Part of our woods.  Looks like a nice hunting spot to me :)

A Little Bit of Color!

This week we have been getting the doors hung and the floors ready to be tiled.  It is nice to be able to close the doors to the different rooms...now we just need light switches so that we can see when we are in the rooms!  The kitchen has also made more progress with the shelves being put in.  Today, Kendra's friends, Tonya and Katelyn came by to help paint the laundry room.  Kendra was excited to add a little bit of color to the otherwise very neutral colors that we have throughout the house.
Main bathroom door.  The doors came primed white and will be finished with another coat of white paint.

Shelving in the kitchen, we are very excited to have kitchen storage for the first time in our married life
Another picture of the shelving

Master Bath - the cement has been poured and the first of the cement board is up.  The board  is put up before the tile in the shower.

A Fuzzy picture of the drain in the shower

More cement board, this is where the wood stove will be.  The floor will be tiled and the wall will be stack stone.

A view from the dining room

We put the tile down just to see what it would look like.  We met another neighbor this week and he just so happens to be in the tile business.  He has a barn full of remnants from jobs that we were able to sort through...we found this beautiful tile for the living room and were excited to find tile that we loved for the bathrooms and laundry room as well.
The laundry room.  Kendra is excited for a splash of color :)

Kitchen Cabinets & Power Tools

This week we have been working to get the wood floor finished.  The floor is looking great, it is just a very time consuming project.  Kendra is really starting to get into the project and used some of the power tools for the first time this week....Ben was so excited that he had to take some pictures!! The kitchen cabinets have all been hung and were stained on Thursday (no pictures of the stain color yet) Our next steps are to finish the wood flooring and to start hanging the doors in the house.
Cutting end boards to fit

The Kitchen!  On the end will be the fridge, the other opening you see is for the oven .

The far end near the door is a pantry, the sink will be under the window, next to that will be the dishwasher.

Paint Colors!

The house is starting to look like our home!  All the rooms on the main floor have at least one coat of paint and we have started to put the hard wood floors down.  The kitchen cabinet frames are also being installed.  Today we plan to finish installing the kitchen so that it can be stained and cabinet doors can be ordered. Last week, the cement for the turn around and walkway up to the side door was poured and it looks great! Here are the pictures!....
